Tradescantia, also known as “The Inch Plant” or “Wandering Dude”, is a charming and easy-to-grow trailing plant featuring fast-growing, colorful, foliage! They propagate easily.
Water: Keep the soil consistently moist during the growing season, allowing the plant to become lightly damp but never bone dry. In more light and warmer temperatures it will need more water, and vice versa.
Light: Thrives in bright indirect light and gentle morning sunlight. Some species be acclimated to higher amounts of direct light slowly. It can survive in lower light conditions, but new growth may become small and leggy (stretched-out) or lose its purple/pink color. Protect from sudden, hot, direct sunlight to prevent leaf scorch.
Considerations: Maintain a warm and stable environment, avoiding cold drafts and sudden temperature changes. More light generally leads to more vibrant foliage and more compact growth. Pinch back stems every several inches to encourage bushier growth.
